Stephen Paine BA (Hons) Dip Cons ACR

Stephen Paine graduated in history of art from University College London in 1988 and subsequently obtained a diploma in conservation from the Courtauld Institute of Art/Getty Conservation Institute course in the conservation of wall paintings in 1991. In 1992 he completed a Getty Conservation Institute post-diploma internship leading to the award of the Courtauld Institute of Art Certificate of Advanced Practical Training in the Conservation of Wall Paintings. He has since been working as a private conservator in the UK, working on many significant projects of decoration of all periods for a wide variety of clients.

Sophie Stewart MA (Cantab) Dip Cons ACR

Sophie Stewart studied archaeology, anthropology and history of art at New Hall College, Cambridge and following her graduation in 1988 gained a diploma in conservation in 1991 from the Courtauld Institute of Art/Getty Conservation Institute course in the conservation of wall paintings. In 1992 she completed a Getty Conservation Institute post-diploma internship leading to the award of the Courtauld Institute of Art Certificate of Advanced Practical Training in the Conservation of Wall Paintings. From 1992 until 1999 she worked as Wall Painting Conservator (latterly Senior Conservator) at English Heritage undertaking many projects including coordination of the Condition Audit of wall paintings in English Heritage Properties in Care, advice on grant-aided cases and supervision of conservation projects undertaken in collaboration with the Courtauld Institute of Art.

Both Stephen Paine and Sophie Stewart are accredited members of ICON and full members of IIC.
